How we check and rank sites

Every site on DAKEbits is checked on its own pages, and every check is dated. Here is what we check, where each fact comes from, how the list is ordered and how we make money.

What we check for every site

  • The code and what it gives. We open the site through the same link you get and check the code on the site itself, on our own accounts where we have them. A card says “Verified” only after that. If an offer can’t be seen on the site, we don’t repeat numbers from other websites.
  • The terms, in numbers. Wagering, minimum deposit and maximum cash-out come from the site’s own terms. For skin marketplaces we show the fees and how sellers get paid instead. Anything we couldn’t confirm says “Not verified yet”.
  • The licence. We look up the licence a site names in the regulator’s public register: the Curaçao Gaming Authority’s licence list and certificates, or the Anjouan public register. A check mark next to a licence means we found it there. Sites that run as sweepstakes have no gambling licence, and we say so.
  • Countries and US states. We take the list of countries and US states each site excludes from its own terms. We also hide sweepstakes sites in the US states whose laws ban them. If you visit from one of these places, the site moves to the end of the list without a number, and you see “Not available in your region” instead of a button.
  • Payments. Deposit and withdrawal methods, minimums and fees come from the site’s cashier and help pages.
  • ID checks. When a site asks for ID, by its own rules. Our ID checks table puts them side by side.
  • Hacks and other incidents. When a site we list is hacked, stops paying out, closes or loses its licence, we add it to the site’s page with the source.

Dates and re-checks

Every card and code page shows the day of our last check, and offers older than 21 days go back on our re-check list. We also note when each licence expires and look it up in the register again after that date. If it hasn’t been renewed, the check mark comes off.

How the list is ordered

Our editors set the order. Sites whose code gives something we could confirm, and that accept players from more countries, go first. Sites that don’t accept your country go to the end. A site that pays for its place is labelled “Sponsored”: payment can move a site up the list, but it never changes the facts on its card.

Scores

We don’t give sites scores or stars yet. A fair score needs real deposits and withdrawals, so we publish one only after we have tested all five parts:

  • Licensing and transparency
  • Deposits and withdrawals, including how long a real withdrawal took
  • Bonus fairness: wagering, caps, time limits and how clearly the terms are written
  • Game selection, and whether “provably fair” games can really be checked
  • Usability and support

Each part gets 0 to 10, and the score is their average. Until a site has been tested on all five, it has no score.

What we don’t do

  • We don’t pay or reward anyone for reviews, and we don’t show star ratings we can’t back up.
  • We don’t invent bonuses or fill gaps with guesses: what we don’t know is shown as not verified.
  • We don’t take money to change facts, remove a warning or hide an incident.

How we make money

When you open a site through our link and sign up or play, the site may pay us a commission. It costs you nothing extra. Links to sites go through our /go/ address, which counts clicks without storing your IP address. More in our affiliate disclosure.

Found a mistake?

Sites change their offers and rules often, so always read a site’s own terms before you deposit. If something on DAKEbits is out of date or wrong, tell us through our contact page: we check it, fix the page and update the date of the check.
